Standout Quinella – A standout Quinella is where you select as many runners as you like from the same race, however you must nominate the runner you think will place First or Second. |
Trifecta – This bet is on the first, second, and third places in a given race in the correct order.

Daily Double: This is a bet on the first place position in two consecutive races, generally the first two of the day. The bettor must correctly pick both races to win.
Pick Six: This is a bet on the first place position of six consecutive races, generally the last six. In the event nobody wins, the winning pool is split between those correctly picking five (or less if nobody picked five) and a carryover to the next pick six pool.

Closer - A horse that runs best in the latter part of the race.
Cracking Pace - When the leader or the leaders of a race run at a very quick speed, usually in the early stages of a race.
Dark Day - A day when no racing is scheduled
Dead Heat - A tie. Two or more horses finishing equal in a race.
Derby - A stakes event for three-year-olds.
Distanced - Well beaten, finishing a long distance behind the winner.
Entry - A horse entered in a race.
Exposure - The amount of money the house actually stands to lose on a game or a race.
False Favourite - A horse that is a race favourite despite being outclassed by others.
Favourite - In sports betting this it the team expected to win an event.
Feature Races - Top races.
Furlong – Races are measured in furlongs. A furlong is equal to one-eighth of a mile.

Graduate - Winning for the first time.
